A 勢美 Video: 週末どうだった?

My friend Jonathan Maxwell and I were supposed to create a skit performance in Japanese for our Spoken Japanese class at Kansai Gaidai University. Since we knew that it would be hard to memorize 8 or so minutes of perfect Japanese, we decided to ask Komura-sensei, if it is okay to actually make a short Japanese movie. Fortunately, Komura-sensei never had a group creating a short movie in his class and he gave us green light. Jon and I started writing the script, of course in Japanese, and after a few days we started shooting the scenes. Since none of our friends had time to help us filming, we had to test, check, set, direct, film, and cut everything by ourselves. It was hard, but more than that, it was a lot of fun! We filmed within two days and cut the short movie within two more days. Unfortunately, the sound is not good and well levelled, but we did not have the necessary equipment to create a perfect soundtrack. In the end, our group won the prize for best group performance, something we did not expect. Komura-sensei did not regret that he gave us the opportunity to create this short movie. He found it very well done and asked us, if it would be okay to use the skit as a reference movie for future Spoken Japanese classes at Kansai Gaidai University. We are still honored and amazed that a great teacher such as Komura-sensei found our movie that good! … Oshietekuretearigatou sensei!
